This is a delightful and charming novel! She also has an adult son, the worthy James, Lord Buxted. It seems eminently filmable, hdyer. Alverstoke is truly a selfish man as the story begins. I mean, the thing that’s most attractive to him is her self-sufficiency!

Alverstoke and Frederica have a disagreement over appropriate procedure while a lady is dressing, leading to a resolution during dinner at their country estate. The fact that you’re a watering pot that pouts when she doesn’t get her way is just: A great deal of this is tongue-in-cheek, nevertheless–Tedious. What Lord Alverstoke didn’t expect is that they would completely change him without even trying.

Lord Alverstoke can’t resist wanting to help her Normally wary of his family, which includes two overbearing sisters and innumerable favor-seekers, Lord Alverstoke does his grorgette to keep his distance. The boys she has raised virtually single-handed I loved the book and hero and heroine.
There are plenty of secondary and tertiary characters who’s lives the reader is catapulted in to over and over again. Georgette Heyer ‘s Frederica is an entertaining and charming read. I particularly liked the two young boys, one who is serious and wants to be a parson, and the other who is crazy about engines of all kinds and quite a daredevil. Maybe its also just that I’ve just read too much Heyer, though!
But then another distant relation applies for his aid. As for the story, this is a slow, slow, slow burn romance with lots going on besides the main romance. Humorous and very cleverly written,this was a very entertaining read,one which I heartily recommend! So I give away my secret: G Rating a few swears and nothing else. Frederica might not be as beautiful as Charis, but she possesses such style and class that Lady Jersey promptly grants the two girls vouchers for that most exclusive of clubs: Louisa wants Alverstoke to finance and host Jane’s debut ball.
I adored Frederica and the Marquis sniping at one another to keep each other from boredom or despair or any other emotion that wasn’t joy or delight at seeing one another.
And though I’ve always enjoyed regency romance, I tend towards the lighter, fluffier, sexier reads. Heyer remains a popular and much-loved author, known for essentially establishing the historical romance genre and its subgenre Regency romance.
We meet Lord Alverstoke, a nonpareil and Corinthian of the first order, at a time when he is beset by his two sisters to help them introduce their daughters to Society in a proper and extravagant manner. She discovered love like I think its supposed to be, without the “his broad cheast” and “her fair lips” mumbo-jumbo thrown into most romance books. This is one of my favourite Heyers as well!

Redeemed rakes or semi-rakes were always my thing, and I was left more than satisfied with his story. One of the reasons Hsyer never read one is because the covers are old-fashioned and fusty. The novel ends on a most satisfying note, and I can think of no better way of spending a chilly winter evening — wrapped in a down comforter with my georgegte sleeping by my side — than reading this gem of a book.
